About Me....

Lexington Park, MD

Currently, I am residing in Lexington Park, Maryland, a tiny community that is a part of St. Mary's County, the first part of Maryland that Europeans settled in the 1600's. Collectively, this and the neighboring counties are refered to as "Southern Maryland".

Google maps puts Lexington Park at sixty miles SSE of the White House. Pennsylvania avenue becomes MD Route 4, and Route 4 ends in St. Mary's County.

So far, Southern Maryland is treating me well and I am happy to have moved here. The cats, well, seem a bit disappointed because this apartment does not have the balconey that I had in Palmdale, thus they can't sit outside at all.

Lake Palmdale

From 2006 to 2008, I had lived in Palmdale, California. Pictured is an ARTIFICIAL lake, as Palmdale is located in a section of the Mojave desert called the Antelope Valley and is plagued by crime (this was a result of LA anti-gang laws that import gangs and criminals into the city).

Despite the location, I did manage to enjoy my sentence in the hot, hot desert. I found the local amateur radio club, the Antelope Valley Amateur Radio Club, a friendly and welcoming group of people who "adopted" me. Leaving them was my only real regret on leaving that area.

I am a native of the Pacific Northwest and spent over ten years in the Greater Seattle area, first graduating from High School, and then on to pursue studies at the University of Washington. A craving for water and sea is what southern Maryland appealed to when deciding to take the plunge and move cross country.

However, the bulk of my youth was spent near Astoria, OR which is situated at the mouth of the Columbia river, a river that forms most of the border between Oregon and Washington.
